xMEMS Adds Veteran Finance Leader Rick Curulla to Help Scale Next Breakthrough AI Hardware Company

• The appointment strengthens the executive team as xMEMS scales its category-defining solid-state audio and micro-cooling technologies for the AI era
• Former NVIDIA, Outset Medical and Tenstorrent finance leader brings deep experience supporting high-growth technology companies

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — August 25, 2026 — xMEMS Labs, the pioneer of the world’s first solid-state MEMS speakers and breakthrough μCooling® fan-on-a-chip technology, today announced the appointment of veteran finance and business leader Rick Curulla as Chief Financial Officer. Curulla joins xMEMS as the company enters its next phase of global growth and commercialization.

The appointment comes as artificial intelligence drives demand for thinner, lighter, cooler, and more capable hardware. xMEMS is shipping products today, addressing that demand with solid-state audio and active micro-cooling technologies designed for AI-powered wearables, consumer electronics, robotics, automotive systems, edge devices, storage platforms, and data center infrastructure.

Curulla will help guide xMEMS’ financial strategy, capital planning, operational scaling, and long-term readiness for future strategic opportunities as the company expands commercialization of its PiezoMEMS platform and scales operations to meet growing customer demand.

“The semiconductor industry rarely creates entirely new hardware categories. At xMEMS, we’ve done it twice, with solid-state audio and fan-on-a-chip cooling,” said Joseph Jiang, co-founder and CEO of xMEMS. “The rise of AI is transforming the hardware landscape and increasing demand for technologies that make devices thinner, lighter, quieter, and more efficient. Rick brings the operational rigor, financial expertise, and strategic perspective to help us build a world-class company around these breakthrough technologies.”

Curulla brings extensive experience in business strategy, operational planning, financial management, process improvement, and long-term value creation. His career includes finance and leadership roles at NVIDIA, Intel and Tenstorrent. He has also advised startups and growth-stage companies on business strategy, financial planning, fundraising, and go-to-market execution.

“I’ve spent nearly two decades in the semiconductor industry watching performance, power, and thermal constraints collide as devices shrink and workloads grow. xMEMS answers that on multiple fronts — µCooling for thermal management, and solid-state MEMS speaker technology that delivers full audio performance in a dramatically smaller footprint. I’m excited to help scale the business — bringing the operational rigor and financial discipline needed to turn that innovation into sustained, long-term value,” said Curulla.

Founded in 2018, xMEMS has built a portfolio of more than 500 patents worldwide and developed the industry’s first solid-state speakers and first solid-state active micro-cooling solution. Its technologies are increasingly being adopted by manufacturers seeking to deliver more powerful AI-enabled devices without compromising size, weight, acoustics, or thermal performance.
